Instructor Chris Serong
Chris Serong started practicing martial arts at age thirteen. Three years later in 1996, he discovered Qigong and Southern Shaolin Kung Fu, and also his enthusiasm for martial arts.
In 2002 he started training in modern competitive Wushu (Tai Chi and Kung Fu), and from 1998 to 2005, he competed numerous times in a range of state- and nation-wide martial arts tournaments, winning more than twenty medals and trophies. Every time he competed in jian (sword) events, he won first place.
He is an official sixth generation student of Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan, and has worked as a fight choreographer for Melbourne Theatre Company, Monash Academy of Performing Arts, and Latrobe University.
Also a massage therapist, Chris has trained martial and healing arts in China and Singapore. In 2005 he became a Personal Trainer, and has since taken an avid interest in Powerlifting and Olympic-style weightlifting.
With extensive experience in coaching for martial arts, and in training for strength and fitness, Chris brings a unique perspective to the practice of traditional Wushu.
Chris also enjoys reading books and photos of cats.
